Welcome to the first and only Email For Retards™ yes even you can do it guide on the internet. In the following posts you will learn how to into your own email.

First things first is to decide whether you want to only receive or send and receive. The difference is that for the former you can do it from home, install postfix, open port 25 and that's it. For the latter it's a bit more complicated because your recepients may reject your email if they use spamlists and such.
So, you want to send too? Then you need to rent a vps (because some recipients have banned home IPs) and have ubuntu lts set up and up to date etc. Then in addition to postfix install opendkim and opendkim-tools.
I won't get into configuring postfix but you can add this >smtp_tls_security_level = may >virtual_alias_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/virtual and make sure myhostname = your.domain it should be the same as /etc/mailname For DKIM add something like this to /etc/postfix/main.cf # DKIM milter_default_action = accept internal_mail_filter_classes = bounce smtpd_milters = unix:/opendkim/opendkim.sock non_smtpd_milters = $smtpd_milters And something like this in /etc/opendkim.conf Domain your.domain Selector 2020 KeyFile /etc/dkimkeys/2020.private Socket local:/var/spool/postfix/opendkim/opendkim.sock
see https://wiki.debian.org/opendkim for more put the public dkim in your registrar, for example namecheap >TXT Record >Host @ (for spf) _dmarc (for dmarc) SELECTOR._domainkey (for dkim) see https://easydmarc.com/tools/ for dmarc and spf also set reverse dns from your vps' control panel after everything go to https://www.mail-tester.com/ you should get a 10/10 - if not see what's missing
to read/send email use mutt or install dovecot-pop3d and set it up and your thunderbird
look for the RUNDIR in /etc/default/opendkim it should be same as the one for the socket ie /var/spool/postfix/opendkim
>>12 MS ban some vps' ip ranges
